Active Living and Centralized Programs:

Since its inception back in 2015 with the former Resident and Community Services division, the Active Living teams have been focusing on promoting physical activity, exercise, and healthy lifestyles among residents, educational workshops, social gatherings, and support services that are organized and offered for residents of a specific area of the city or region.

These programs may include fitness classes, sports activities, age-specific clubs, and wellness workshops. The goal is to encourage residents to stay active and improve their overall health.

There are currently three regional Active Living and Centralized Programs teams Program Development and Evaluation:

Created on 2020, the Program Development and Evaluation team is responsible for providing services or activities that are coordinated and managed centrally by the Programs and Partnership unit. These programs aim to provide consistent and accessible services to all residents. Examples include the Midnight Basketball, League Of Her Own, Rookie League and KickStart programs.

In the context of the Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC), these programs play a role in creating a larger sense of community, fostering social interactions between communities and neighbourhoods as well as improving the quality of life for their residents.

Peel Children’s Aid Society strives to ensure the safety and well-being of the community’s most vulnerable with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Peel Regional Police is committed to our Vision of ‘A Safer Community Together’. Everything we do is driven by our Mission, Vision and Values and we pride ourselves in being accountable to our community. We are the second largest municipal police service in Ontario and the third largest municipal police service in Canada. We serve the Cities of Brampton and Mississauga which has over 1.5 million residents, and the Pearson International Airport which saw an estimated 12.7 million people passed through in 2021. One of our objectives is to address crime through call response, investigations, enforcement, and police visibility. With almost 2,200 police officers and over 900 civilian employees, our solvency rates are some of the highest in the country and our crime rates are below provincial levels.

The GloUp Media Program founded by producer Gina Martial-Clarke, provides students the opportunity to work directly with top industry professionals to get hands-on experience in the media arts and entertainment industries. This include working as part of a production team on a music video sets, working among artists, attending celebrity events, working as camera operators and post-production editors, participating in editorial-style brand shoots, social media content, website development and more.

The mission of the GloUp Media Program is to provide an opportunity for students passionate about the media industry, film and TV production, celebrity events and branding to take part in diversified and inclusive media coverage. The program helps students begin their professional career, working with celebrity clientele on up-and-coming projects within small teams to deliver high-quality content and shine creatively. Students from all backgrounds are selected for this program, but it is a priority to diversify the media industry by creating accessible opportunities for BIPOC and LGBTQA+ people.

Some of the most recent projects that the team has been apart of includes the Market Mondays World Tour presented by the well established Earn Your Leisure podcast, the designer brand WedLuxe runway show and the Flavours and Vibes event featuring chart-topping Ghanian artist Kelvyn Boy.

As the positions are project and event based, students are places into various assignments to work in teams, attending upcoming events, and shoots. Students will be informed on projects based on demand based in venues across the GTA, with flexibility to work in accordance to their school schedules as long as committed deadlines are being met.

The GloUp Media group is looking to expand their team through the program that will take students to new heights, helping them to establish themselves professionally through various positions.
