ReGenerating Our Roots
Regenerating our Roots is an anti-racism program that breaks down and corrects the stereotypes systematically placed on the melanated community over many years. The curriculum focuses on unexplored history while highlighting the many contributions that melanated people have established worldwide. By eradicating negative views the youth may have of themselves and are perpetuated in society we promote self-love and confidence. The program provides these children with opportunities while offering the support and resources necessary for success. The anticipated outcomes include enhanced life skills such as financial literacy, access to and resources to educational supports, and succession planning and entrepreneurship; including social enterprise. Participants will leave the program with an increased sense of self-worth and resilience, as a result of having the opportunity to be exposed to various coping mechanisms and techniques focused on addressing their mental health and personal well-being.
