S.L.Y.C Summer Fundraiser

Who We Are: The mission of SHINING LIGHTE (Leaders In Generational Healing Through Empowerment and Education) YOUTH CHARITY is to ensure that all youth have equal access to opportunities for success. We believe educated, employed, engaged, and healed young people possess the power to solve the world’s toughest problems and lead in creating change. We take pride in connecting young people with opportunities to transform their lives and are dedicated to helping them achieve their goals.

What We Do: Our charity empowers and heals underprivileged youth, helping them overcome racialized and impoverished situations through educational programs/initiatives, mentorship, and community engagement.

Our goal is to provide comprehensive support to youth in all areas of their lives because sometimes all it takes is one hand or one word to change their lives.

Why We Need Your Support: S.L.Y.C aims to raise $21,000 by Sept 2024 to offer FREE programming for an additional 120 youth in Brampton.

LIFE Literacy: Literacy is crucial for lifelong learning and engagement in society. The SLYC Life Literacy Skills program is designed to impart essential life skills applicable across diverse fields, promoting holistic development in mind, body, and soul. This program emphasizes literacy alongside practical life lessons, addressing critical needs in underserved communities.

Participants will build a supportive network through community involvement, mentorship, and group connections with peers who share similar life experiences. They will gain skills in self-evaluation, goal-setting, and personal/career development aligned with their aspirations.

The program covers self-identity, confidence building, nutrition, financial literacy, self-awareness/regulation, understanding rights, entrepreneurship, and mental health among other topics.

Impact of Your Support: Funds raised will expand our capacity to run three simultaneous programs in different locations, providing deserving youth with transformative opportunities. Based on community feedback, research and engagement, there is a clear demand for more life skills and literacy programs.

Together, let’s empower our youth and communities to not just survive, but thrive!
